Overview
The Scenario Planning Agent is accessed via Setup > ZoneLiquidity > Scenario Planning Agent. Once a forecast has been generated and its status is Completed, users can load it into Scenario Planning Agent and test the impact of different financial parameters on the projected cash balance.
The Scenario Planning Agent is intended to complement the Cash Forecast chart — rather than replacing a forecast with a new one, it allows users to layer hypothetical changes and what-if assumptions on top of an existing forecast to support decision-making.
Prerequisites
- At least 1 forecast with a status of Completed must exist in the system.
- Users must have the Administrator role or a NetSuite role assigned with access permissions to ZoneLiquidity features and custom records (
customrecord_zr_forecast_definition,customrecord_zr_treasury_config).
Step 1: Select a forecast
Select an existing forecast from the Forecast pick-list. The pick-list displays all completed forecasts available in the system.
Important: Forecasts are currently identified by their internal system ID only. Custom naming is not yet supported. If you have submitted multiple forecasts, cross-reference the creation date and configuration details in the ZR Forecast Definition record to identify the correct one.
Step 2: Enter scenario parameters
The Scenario Planning Agent operates through an interactive, conversational natural language chat interface. You do not need to fill out complex static forms; simply type your what-if question or financial assumption directly into the chat prompt box at the bottom of the workspace.
Supported Example Scenarios & Questions
You can ask both broad analytical questions and targeted what-if hypotheses, including:
Supplier Payment Terms:
"If our key suppliers reduce our payment terms from 60 days to 30 days, what is the immediate impact on our month-end cash position?"
"Model the impact of changing our vendor payment cadence from weekly to bi-weekly."
Customer Collections & Delays:
"If our top 5 customers delay payment by 15 or 30 days beyond their terms, at what point do we breach our minimum cash threshold?"
"How does an average 10-day delay in customer receivables affect our liquidity over the next 60 days?"
Discounts & Margins:
"If we offer a 2% discount for early payment to improve cash flow, does the increase in liquidity outweigh the loss in margin?"
Cash Flow & Obligations Analysis:
"What is our projected free cash flow for this month?"
"How many vendor bills are due for payment next week, and how many represent domestic vs. foreign payments?"
"Create a summary of bank fees paid from [Bank Account Name] in the past month."
Important: Scenario parameters must relate to the time frame covered by the selected forecast. Questions or inputs that fall outside the forecast period will not return results.
Step 3: Review the scenario output
Once you submit your prompt, the Scenario Planning Agent runs an asynchronous simulation against the selected forecast data and renders a structured response directly in the thread:
Conversational Summary & Insights: A clear narrative breaking down how the proposed scenario alters your projected cash position, liquidity runway, and key milestone balances.
Impact & Tool-Use Breakdown Cards: Interactive cards and data breakdowns that detail calculated cash inflows/outflows, expected payment timing windows, and variance against baseline numbers.
Receipts & Payables Risk Classification: Clear categorization of transactions (e.g., expected to clear vs. at-risk) allowing you to trace the specific invoices, bills, and terms influencing the simulation.
Saving, Managing, and Comparing Scenarios
Chronological Chat History (Sidebar): The Scenario Planning Agent maintains a chronological history of past scenario threads in the sidebar. This allows users to revisit past simulations, review the logic behind previous decisions, and pick up earlier conversations.
Iterative Refinement: You can continue sending follow-up prompts within the same thread (e.g., "What if we only offer that discount to customer X?") to layer multiple conditions or compare adjustments step-by-step.
Non-Destructive Modeling: Simulations are layered on top of your data for analysis only. Running what-if scenarios does not alter or overwrite your primary NetSuite records or baseline forecast definitions.
