Overview
The Liquidity page serves as a supporting view to the Cash Forecast chart. While the Cash Forecast chart projects bank balances over a period, the Liquidity page answers a more direct question: what is the bank balance on a specific date? Finance teams use this page to check balances at historical dates (such as a fiscal year-end) and to review expected balances at a future date based on an existing forecast.
To access the Liquidity page, navigate to Setup > ZoneLiquidity > Liquidity.
Page overview & header controls
At the top of the Liquidity page, several global controls and status indicators are available:
- Description banner: Summarises the page capabilities β view current bank balances, explore proposed future balance scenarios, and receive AI-generated liquidity guidance.
- Last Updated: Indicates when the data was last synchronised with Zone's AI model.
- Refresh: Re-sends the transaction data to the AI model and updates the page with the latest results. Use Refresh when:
- New transactions have been created since the last sync.
- Payments were posted overnight via an integration and you want the morning view to be current.
- Export: Click Export to generate a CSV file containing the bank accounts, current balances, expected inflows and outflows, and forecasted balances displayed on the page.
Filters & date selection
Use the controls at the top of the page to filter results and select the date you want to view.
- Subsidiary: Filter down to specific subsidiaries or view all subsidiaries.
- Date: Controls which data set the table displays.
- Default (today's date): Displays current bank balances, statement balances, connectivity feeds, and NetSuite balances.
- Historical dates: Displays actual general ledger balances as of the selected past date.
- Future dates: Displays AI-projected cash positions, expected inflows and outflows, and forecasted balances.
Tip: Select a future date to view projected bank balances and forecasted liquidity positions based on AI-powered analysis.
Selecting a future date
When a future date is selected, an additional pick-list appears:
- Select a future date in the date field.
- In the Forecast pick-list that appears, select the forecast you want to apply.
- Optionally, filter by subsidiary using the Subsidiary pick-list to narrow the results to accounts included in that forecast.
Important: The Forecast pick-list only appears when a future date is selected. For past dates, no forecast selection is required, as actual data is used instead.
Tip: Forecasts are currently identified by their internal system ID. If you have run multiple forecasts, navigate to Setup > ZoneLiquidity > Forecasting and check the forecast list to identify the correct record by its creation date and configuration details.
Understanding the data columns
The columns displayed on the Liquidity page change depending on the date selected.
Default view (today's date)
When you open the page, it automatically loads with today's date. This view displays current actual balances and the variance between your bank records and NetSuite.
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Bank account | The NetSuite bank account identifier and name. |
| Currency | The operating currency of the bank account. |
| Date | The as-of date for the latest imported bank statement or transaction activity. |
| Bank statement balance | Pulled from the most recently imported bank statement in ZoneReconcile, or from bank connectivity if enabled. |
| Bank connectivity balance | Pulled directly from real-time bank connectivity feeds (for example, Plaid or open banking) if enabled. |
| NetSuite balance | Pulled from the NetSuite general ledger (double-entry accounting balance). |
| Difference | The variance between the bank balance and the NetSuite general ledger balance. |
Understanding variance & reconciliation differences
The Difference column highlights discrepancies between what the bank reports and what is recorded in NetSuite:
- Zero difference ($0.00 / β¬0.00): The bank account and NetSuite general ledger are fully reconciled.
- Positive difference: The bank balance is higher than the NetSuite balance. This typically indicates:
- Unrecorded bank deposits or incoming customer payments.
- In-transit payments that have not yet been posted in NetSuite.
- Negative difference: The NetSuite balance is higher than the bank balance. This typically indicates:
- Unpresented cheques or vendor bill payments processed in NetSuite but not yet cleared by the bank.
- Bank fees or debits that have not yet been recorded in NetSuite.
Future forecast view (future dates)
When a future date is selected, the table updates to display AI forecast data.
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Current balance | The bank account balance as of today, or as of the last posting in the NetSuite general ledger. |
| Expected inflows | The total accounts receivable amount forecast to be received into the account within the selected period. |
| Expected outflows | The total accounts payable amount forecast to leave the account within the selected period. |
| Forecasted balance | A calculated value: current balance + expected inflows β expected outflows. This is the projected bank balance at the selected date. |
Viewing the explainability layer
The expected inflows and outflows amounts are interactive. Click any inflow or outflow figure to open the explainability layer, which lists the individual transactions that make up that total.
Each line item in the explainability layer falls into 1 of 2 categories:
| Line item type | What it means |
|---|---|
| Named vendor or customer (for example, AP β Vendor Payment: [Vendor Name]) | The AI model identified a recurring payment pattern for this specific vendor or customer and has forecast the next occurrence based on that pattern. |
| Grouped reference (for example, Other AP or TGPTAP[bank account ID]) | No clear recurring pattern was detected for these transactions. The system grouped them and applied a statistical forecast based on overall transaction volume. |
Currency behaviour
The Liquidity page displays amounts in each bank account's native subsidiary currency. This differs from the Cash Forecast chart, which consolidates all amounts into the headquarter subsidiary's currency when multiple subsidiaries are included in a forecast.
Tip: To check which currency a subsidiary uses, navigate to Setup > Company > Subsidiaries and review the Currency field.
